My interests are fairly mainstream; photography, art, listening to music. Photography (and art) wise I like architectural, graphic, semi-abstract, and especially black and white. I like interesting portraiture that isn't just a straight head and shoulders shot. I like images that make you look twice and think about what they are, and contemporary photography out on the streets, at concerts etc, showing alternative ways of living. That isn't to say thats the type of work I produce; I'm trying to get over my shyness and capture people everyday. I did art up until the end of college/A level, when I quit because I wasn't enjoying HAVING to produce. I'm not particularly talented, but I still love playing about with things; I'd love to have another go at pottery, and my newest adventure is scrapbooking/ art journalling/collage, whatever you call it. I'm still completely new to that though. I believe in some 'new age' ideas; that your star sign effects your basic personality (but not that you can predict your day to day life), that ghosts exist, that aromatherapy works. I don't believe in tarot, feng shui and the like though. I was Christened and brought up loosely Christian, but I don't follow that in any way anymore. In fact, I think most religions are the cause of war, close-mindedness and hatred, rather than acceptance and peace. If I was to follow a religion, it would be Buddhism, but I don't think your personality and the way you live your life should be dictated by the group(s) you identify as belonging to. Ignorant, anti-gay, racist, capialist idiots annoy the hell out of me. I wouldn't call myself especially politically educated by any means, but I'm working on that. I don't, in general, vote, because in my opinion almost all political parties are more concerned with making money, staying in power, and becoming globally powerful rather than improving people's lives and representing the views of the nation. I think the idea that 'not voting is an insult to all the women who fought for the right to' is a ridiculous argument, and voting for 'the lesser of two evils' pointless. I believe in equal rights, not women's rights, gay rights, or black rights. I'm a semi-vegetarian. By that I mean, I don't yet have the self-control to completely eliminate all animal products from my life (leather, gelatin, eggs, rennet), but some effort is better than none. I would have less of an issue with eating meat if we hunted and killed it humanely, and the same people that did that ate it, as opposed to the current conveyor-belt, neatly plastic-packaged meat that could be anything, and based on how the animal was kept might as well be nothing.
